March 6-7, 2009 at Mohican State Park Lodge Conference Center

The Ohio Association of Professionals for the MRDD Annual Leadership Conference was held Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Mohican Resort & Conference Center. We had a total of 68 participants in attendance, representing 15 county MRDD programs from across Ohio. Scholarships for the weekend were awarded to Allen county, Ashland county, and Auglaize county.

The following counties were represented at the conference: Allen, Ashland, Auglaize, Clermont, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Erie, Franklin, Geauga, Lake, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, and Summit.

Registration cost was $20.00 for members or $29.00 for non-members which also covered the cost of OAPMRDD membership. Admission to all sessions, meals, snacks and two complimentary beverages from the lounge were included with registration. Room reservations were made separately by contacting the Conference Center.

At the Saturday business meeting, the OAPMRDD strategic goals and mission statement was discussed and passed as new business. Certificates of attendance were issued at the conclusion of the conference. ODMRDD Professional Development hours are pending.

Poster Session at Next Conference:

Something great going on in your program?  Is there a staff member with an innovative program going on?  Does your vocational program include a successful retail operation?

Plan now to showcase whatever you’re proudest of at the Poster Session that will be part of OAPMRDD Annual Conference.  Take some pictures, write up a description, bring a sample of your wares – put it all on a poster board to share with your colleagues.   The posters will be displayed all weekend and you’ll have a chance to brag about your project.

If you plan to participate, please contact Jené Wilson or Steve Spall so we can be sure to have enough space for everyone.
